A prominent block of sapphire in numerous shades of blue with a strike of gold draws your attention, but when you explore deeper you see the complex and subtle interplay of cyan, grey, green, and sand with echoes, not quite shadows, of dark grey-black. As simple as it appears, the large blue shape took many hours of painting and re-painting before I declared, quite literally, “I’m done.” This simple image is a metaphor for life that reminds us that sometimes it’s time to move on.
